Joshua Tree Lake RV Park, Joshua Tree, CA

Day 22, 23:  Monday, Tuesday, February 5, 6, Joshua Tree Lake RV Park, Joshua Tree, CA

We found this cute park in All-Stays, 5 miles north of the little town of Joshua Tree, with a pond, trees, ducks, and lots of noisy Grackles and doves.  There is a gathering area where they have musical events, much outdoor art, cozy seating alcoves.  When you feed the big koi in the pond, all the “wild” mallards are there in an instant!  Tuesday we visited the NP Visitor Center, eating our packed lunch there as we watched the SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch carrying Elon Musk’s Tesla into outer space! We drove down into Joshua Tree NP, doing a short hike to see the old Desert Queen gold mine, then another hike through cool rocks to Barker Dam, more water in the middle of the desert!  We stopped at a little local grocery store called Sam’s to pick up a couple of things – operated by a tall eastern Indian wearing a turban!  Diversity in the desert!
