Yuma Lakes RV Resort February 21

Day 24:  Sunday   February 21   Yuma Lakes RV Resort, Yuma, CA

We drove separately as we headed out through the mountains east of San Diego on Highway 8, hooking up at the high point on Highway 8 at the casino.

Yuma Lakes is next to a big pond that has lots of water birds, Great White Heron, cormorants.  We walked around the campground a bit, had a nice dinner.

Monday morning we took the kayaks down to Mittry Lake and launched.  It was pretty windy, so we stayed close to shore as we paddled down the lake, then back up.  Just a few fishermen here.  Sadly, there was a bad fire in the riparian area near the lake last summer, so the area is not as beautiful as it used to be.  We had boondocked here at the lake in previous years.
